Project Description
This project explores the work of the design firm Pentagram and its collaboration with DC, expanding on their established design principles through a series of three promotional movie posters for Batman, The Flash, and Superman. The posters are inspired by the signature style of project leader Timothy Cohan and aim to reflect his approach to visual storytelling and brand cohesion.
Each poster was designed with a distinct visual identity that captures the essence of its respective character while maintaining a unified design language across the series. The Batman poster emphasizes stark contrast and minimalism to convey a dark, mysterious presence. The Flash poster incorporates dynamic motion-inspired elements to reflect speed and energy. The Superman poster utilizes bold design elements to highlight the character’s iconic, larger-than-life heroism.
This project serves as a design study of Pentagram’s branding and storytelling techniques within the context of entertainment marketing. By applying these principles to the superhero genre, the work demonstrates how cohesive visual identity can strengthen narrative impact and audience engagement.
